BIOGRAPHY

Making history since 2002

The CKSG officially exists since Feb.2002 but is a project that has been growing since 1994, when its Technical Director "Sensei" Rui Fonseca began his coaching career teaching in some "Dojos".
In 1986, Rui Fonseca began his training in Karate with the Sankukai Style at ACASI - Integrated Systematic Culture and Training Association. He trained Shito-ryu, in which style he reached the graduation of 1ºkyu (Brown belt) as a student of Sensei Florentino Soares and by the esteemed Sensei Ricardo Castro.
In 1994, he started teaching Karate, opening Karate classes in different places and entities, until the need to become a Karate Trainer came up.

In 1995 he joined SKI - Shotokan Karate-do International. Being graduated Shodan (1st Dan) in 2000 by "Shian" Hirokasu Kanazawa. During this period, he was under the technical guidance of the late Sensei Luís Filipe Machado (already deceased). Due to the number of practitioners dispersed throughout the various training centers, it became urgent to create an association to better serve the interests of students and in 2002 the CKSG - Shotokan Karate Club of Gaia was born. Although being a Club headquartered in VN de Gaia, our association is proud to be present in all of Porto. In 2008 the CKSG opens its own facilities in Porto “Honbu Dojo” on Rua do Lima.
On the 10th anniversary of these installations, in 2018 the  CKSG moves to Rua Álvaro Castelões, 125 - in Porto where  remains.

After having been a founding member of APCK - Portuguese Association of Karate Clubs, fate wanted that connection was lost and finally in 2011 the CKSG joined the AKP - Porto Karate Association  to which it is still connected.

Since 2014, the CKSG welcomes the  technical support from Sensei José Ramos - 8th dan of Karate Shotokan.

Currently, the CKSG is active in several training centers in greater Porto, having as its engine  principal  your trainers:  Sensei Rui Fonseca,  Sensei Jenny Neves and most important obviously, her students.
